Explore how some of our students found their experiences of MSPW tutoring for A-Level and Further Maths

Martha Ashcroft

Martha completed the MSPW Further Maths course in August 2025, having joined in Year 13 after self-studying at AS level.

With the help of MSPW’s resources, weekly sessions, and tailored guidance, Martha gained the confidence and skills needed for independent learning; essential for university and beyond.
Her story highlights how access to Further Maths can open doors to top-tier universities and competitive degree courses. Martha has now received offers from York and Durham to study Mathematics and Computer Science, and credits MSPW with helping her reach her full potential.

Tayla Matthew-Smith

Tayla completed the MSPW Further Maths course in August 2025, motivated by her ambition to study Mathematics at university. As the only student in her school taking Further Maths, she embraced independent learning and adapted to the university-style structure of MSPW. Her success on the course helped secure a place at Newcastle University with a reduced offer, highlighting the value of Further Maths in unlocking opportunities.

Talen Mudaly

Talen Mudaly, a former student at Queen Elizabeth High School in Carmarthen, generously shared his experiences of studying Further Mathematics through MSPW. Coming from a mixed ethnic background and being the first in his family to navigate A-levels, Talen spoke candidly about the challenges he faced; from managing his time effectively to finding the right support structures.

Talen’s passion for mathematics and his determination to succeed led him to develop strong study habits and make the most of the resources available to him. Now studying Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Manchester, Talen is excited about the opportunities ahead and is already looking toward future possibilities in fields like quantum computing and space technology.
